No Budget! You could hit some you like, Nikon Or Canon
I would Choose The New Canon 5d Mark II, With a 16-35mm f/2.8L lens, and 70-200mm f/2.8 IS L lens. I would also intend a 50mm f/1.2L lens. I would also ingest the Lenses of my 30d. This discourse is solely for fun.

I’d want to try one of the new RED cameras, maybe the scarlet FF35 since it’s supposed to have quite a big dynamic range (around 13 stops). I’m not sure if it counts as a DSLR or not, but if not, the 5D mark II.
Lenses 17-40 L 24-105 L, 70-200 2.8 L.
As far as lenses, I would purchase something with great versatility, such as an 18-200mm, and a larger telephoto lens, similar to a 200-500mm. And of course, I’d opt for a wide-angle lens for scenery and landscape shots, as well as a means of capturing stranger ‘fish-eye’ shots.
I shoot with pro Olympus gear, but if I had to choose between the Nikon and the Canon, the D3 is incredible. give me a few primes with that and I will show you amazing shots at 12,000 iso.
(I still would buy an E-3 again, but get some of their fixed lenses like the 35-100 f2.8, etc.)
Nikon D3 with 17-35 mm f/2.8, 24-70 mm f/2.8 and 70-200 mm f/2.8 for editorial.
Nikon D3 with 200-400 mm f/4, 400 mm f/2.8 and 600 mm f/4 for sports.
Nikon D3x with 24-70 mm f/2.8, 70-200 mm f/2.8 and 60 mm f/2.8 for studio and fashion.
I think I’d get the same.
However, I would beg for, say, five more batteries (’cause I read that each one is $70?!)
I’m not greedy. I’d put up with an entry level Hasselblad H3DII-31. I’ll even put up with the kit zoom lens, the HC 3.5-4.5/50-110. Then maybe a telephoto… a HC 4.5/300 would do. And a wide… a HCD 4/28 would be nice.
Bit late for Christmas but at least I’ve got my list ready in good time for next.
Probably the same choice as you except I’d switch out the 50mm f/1.2L for the 600mm f/4 IS or the 500mm f/4 IS.
EDIT: Also, this is with the assumption that we’re not allowed to sell this equipment. Otherwise I’d get a Hasselblad with some expensive lenses and then sell them for about a million dollars and buy all the Canon camera equipment I ever wanted.
Nikon or Canon, nah, I’m going with the Pentax K20 D. At least then I could use my old lenses from my SLR’s and the 3 new ones. I only have a kit lens for my Canon Rebel 2000, so I can do more with the Pentax. I would just need a great macro lens, 300mm or higher lens, and a fish eye lens for fun
